Situated at No. 12, Ferry Road, Thuduwa, Madapatha, off Piliyandala, Sri Lanka, Rivendale Resort is 4 km from Piliyandala town and 15 km or half an hour's drive from Colombo city limits; it is the ideal place for those who prefer the peace and quiet of rural surroundings, while conveniently approachable from the city.
The Retirement Home is located on a three-acre property bordering the Bolgoda Lake, in tranquil and calm surroundings. The entrance driveway is guarded by a row of tall Mahogany trees on either side. Terraced parkland filled with a number of indigenous tall trees provides cool shade to rest under.
The Rivendale grounds include a 300 ft access to the Bolgoda Lake where the water is clean enough to bathe in. It is possible to fish and boat if that takes your fancy, or just relax by the lakeside.
The Resort is located just above the Bolgoda Lake and we take special care of the environment. The property is planted with over 200 indigenous plants varying from tropical hardwoods such as Hulanhik, Satin, Ebony, Nedun, Welang, medicinal plants as Bulu, Nelli, Munamal, flowering plants as Murutha, Sal, Na and fruits as Mora, Palu and Weera. Some of these plants have reached over 40 feet in height.
Sewage is treated in a four stage treatment plant and the end product, sufficiently clean water, is to be diverted directly into the lake. This water is stored in a pond to be used for irrigation. Provision is made to collect rain water from the buildings to be used for flushing toilets. Several ponds among the gardens collect rainwater. We discourage the use of polythene and convert all the garbage and dead leaves from the trees into compost.
